WRITER FOR CHILDREN

ABOUT ME

Because I was read to as a child, I learned to believe in adventure. As a film student at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, I learned how to tell a story. As a graduate of Penn State University’s psychology program, I learned how to imagine with empathy. As an English teacher in the south of France, I learned how to change my voice. As a student of pastry arts at the Culinary Institute of America, I learned that everyone is a kid when there are cookies in the oven. And as a cook in the kitchen of New York City’s Gramercy Tavern, I learned that love for what you do and who you do it for is a universal secret ingredient.

I currently live in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and make a living as a writer and editor for Penn State University’s Office of Development Communications. I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. I believe that a house is a home when the freezer is well-stocked with cookie dough.
